   Proposal Description:
   Recently updated guidelines for the treatment of hypertension recommend a higher cutoff score in older adults than the previously recommended systolic and diastolic values.  These newer guidelines are based on literature reviewing stroke risk, but they do not consider a possible detrimental impact on cognitive/functional outcomes.  The primary aim of our study is to examine the impact of these new vs. older guidelines on the presence/progression of cognitive performance in patients with normal cognition and mild cognitive impairment.
